It is time to once again dig out those walking shoes and kick away the winter blues! CLASS is one of 68 organizations participating in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. This annual fundraiser is underwritten by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield so 100 percent of the funds raised go to the nonprofit of your choice. This year all proceeds raised for CLASS will benefit the organization’s capital project. The Empowering People * Creating Communities Capital Campaign will allow CLASS to offer our services more efficiently, resulting in more individuals living as independently as possible in the communities of their choice. One aspect of the Empowering People * Creating Communities Campaign is an accessible deck and horticultural centre. Members of the Community Skill Building classes will maintain flowers, vegetables, and other plants in raised garden beds, while learning about nutrition as well as gardening.

The 2013 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community will be held Saturday, May 18 at Stage AE, located in Pittsburgh's North Shore. Registration is now live.  Register Today! Those who register with CLASS and make a $25 donation will receive a t-shirt if you attend the walk and will be entered into a drawing.  We are looking for corporate sponsors for the walk in levels of $500 or more.  If you are interested in sponsoring the Walk, please contact a member of the development team at development@ucpclass.org.
