About Robert Machi Photography

Robert A. Machi has been taking photographs since he was a child. His first experience with the world of photography was shooting inexpensive Kodak single-use film cameras of the 1980s.

Rob’s main asset is his out-going personality. A humorous family story is that Rob didn’t speak until he was four, and ever since, no one has been able to keep him quiet. Because of this, the faculty at School of the Holy Childhood dubbed him the “Mayor.”

As an adult, Rob’s major interests are media-related: the wonder and magic of live-action and animated cinema, video gaming and still photography. Incidentally, Rob’s first word was not mommy or daddy, it was “light.”

Less than a decade ago, Rob’s interest in photography took a serious turn when his father gave him a digital Canon PowerShot A650. After a few formal lessons and inspired by the natural world, Rob began to take photographs of nature’s many moods. He soon graduated to a Sony CyberShot DSC-H200, then most recently a Sony RX100-IV.

Since then, Rob has had three professional exhibitions. Last winter, two of Rob’s photographs were accepted in a juried exhibition at the George Eastman Museum, the oldest American museum dedicated to photography.
